Rankings update in real time as new votes come in, and status labels (Optioned, In Development, Filming, etc.) are sourced from verified entertainment industry announcements.
Absolutely. Any registered user can submit a new book for consideration via our Submit a Book page. Once submitted, the book appears on the Request Board where the community can upvote it. Books that accumulate enough votes are automatically added to the genre-specific and overall rankings. There is no editorial gatekeeping — rankings are entirely community-driven.
Each ranked book carries a status label reflecting its current adaptation progress. "Not Optioned" means no studio has acquired film rights. "Optioned" means a studio or producer has purchased adaptation rights. "In Development" means a screenplay or production plan is actively being worked on. "Filming" means principal photography is underway. "Released" means the adaptation has already premiered. These statuses are updated based on verified industry trade announcements from sources such as Deadline, Variety, and The Hollywood Reporter.
